Poem of the day

‘Out, Out—’
BY ROBERT FROST
The buzz saw snarled and rattled in the yard
And made dust and dropped stove-length sticks of wood,
Sweet-scented stuff when the breeze drew across it.
And from there those that lifted eyes could count
Five mountain ranges one behind the other
Under the sunset far into Vermont.
And the saw snarled and rattled, snarled and rattled,
As it ran light, or had to bear a load.
And nothing happened: day was all but done.
Call it a day, I wish they might have said
To please the boy by giving him the half hour
That a boy counts so much when saved from work.
His sister stood beside him in her apron
To tell them ‘Supper.’ At the word, the saw,
As if to prove saws know what supper meant,
Leaped out at the boy’s hand, or seemed to leap—
He must have given the hand. However it was,
Neither refused the meeting. But the hand!
The boy’s first outcry was a rueful laugh,
As he swung toward them holding up the hand
Half in appeal, but half as if to keep
The life from spilling. Then the boy saw all—
Since he was old enough to know, big boy
Doing a man’s work, though a child at heart—
He saw all was spoiled. ‘Don’t let him cut my hand off—
The doctor, when he comes. Don’t let him, sister!’
So. But the hand was gone already.
The doctor put him in the dark of ether.
He lay and puffed his lips out with his breath.
And then—the watcher at his pulse took fright.
No one believed. They listened to his heart.
Little—less—nothing!—and that ended it.
No more to build on there. And they, since they
Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs.

Title: ‘Out, Out—’

Author: Robert Frost

In this poem the author used personification very well with the saw. He made it seem as if the saw knew it was supper time and ate the boys hand when he accidently got it stuck.. At the beginning when he said that the saw snarled as if it was an angry dog and rattled like a

My Sight

My sight is very important to me. Since I have my sight I am able to see my family, friends, and my dog. My sight helps me be able to play all the games I can now.

If my sight were taken away I wouldn’t be able to see all the cool decorations on cakes. I wouldn’t be able to play on a trampoline because I wouldn’t be able to see the edge. If I didn’t have my sight I couldn’t be able to ride my bike to a friends house because I wouldn’t know when to turn or when I get there. My sight is too important for me to lose.

Being in Missourri With My Family

We were getting packed ready for the seven hour trip.  We went to my aunts house put all the luggage from our car to hers.  When we get to my uncles house it is one o’clock and I’m glad because I can finally sleep.  The next morning my brother, uncle, and I played on the xbox for a little while then we all ate lunch.  We all spent time playing with my baby cousin.  At night my mom wanted to watch a movie.  So everyone watched with her. after the movie we went to bed.  When I woke up my brother and I snuck out to play on the xbox. when Rory and my uncle came out we all played with Rory.  The next day all the girls left to go shopping so it was just us guys.  We played on the xbox and went outside hoping the girls wouldn’t come back for awhile.   Then it was time to go back home when we got home it was around 7 and me and my dad played some games. Then I had to go to bed knowing that I had to go to school tomorrow. I did not care because it had been a fun Christmas break.

twenty seconds on the clock
they’re down by two
they pass the ball in
the clock starts ticking19,18,17
the point guard dribbles up the court

he passes the ball to the shooting guard
12,11,10,9,8,7,
he dribbles around his defender

he shoots at the buzzer
he scores! and is fouled
he studies the goal
the other teams crowd is screaming
he shoots his free throw he scores!
game over
the press comes up and asks him “How did you do it?”
and he replied “I did it because of my passion for basketball.”

Best Camp Ever

When I got all my luggage packed my mom and I got in the car ready to go to Kansas Basketball Camp. Once we got to sign ups there was a huge line. At the end of the line the players were sitting down signing autographs. As I arrived at the opening ceremony I did not know anybody. In the evening we all went to the gym where my group and I played 4on4 games. There were four separate teams. In the mornings we did drills and free throw  competitions. The last day the coaches announced the MVP and we did tournaments. This was the most memorable moment because it was REALLY FUN!!!!!!!
